A little slice of heaven on Lena street, the Bread Shop is open Thursday – Sunday, 10am – 2pm (Focaccia is ready for pick up at 11am). The Bread Shop website opens up for orders on Wednesday. If you try to order before that all the items are marked sold out.
After being at home from several weeks, it felt good to get out and get some food. I had wanted to go to the Bread Shop for awhile. An online article by the Santa Fe Reporter’s Fork email reminded me of the Bread Shop’s existence. This article also discussed buying local and gave several links to Santa Fe establishments.
So for a Friday pick up, I ordered online at the Bread Shop website on Thursday morning. I wanted to try the focaccia. I am not a big bread or bakery person but I do like focaccia. I ordered the tomato (4.25)and green olive and preserved lemon focaccia(4.25). The green olives are Italian Castelvetrano which are the really “bright green olives that usually are sweeter than regular green olives that come from Sicily.”* This is according to Serious Eats.com. The focaccia is cut into 4×6 inch pieces.
We arrived at the Bread Shop at a little after 11am. You stand outside so you don’t have to worry about being inside with people. As you can see there was only one person ahead of me.
I was quickly waited on. There were no hassles with my order. I really like it when everything goes so smoothly.
As you can see, I picked well. Each focaccia was delicious! Yes, I would go back.
Ordering online is a breeze. There is parking in the back. I didn’t know so we parked in the front.
