Ever on the alert for a good Italian restaurant, we finally checked out Piccolino Italian Restaurant. Piccolino is one of those places where we always keep driving by and saying, we should stop here. Some people have even recommended that we eat there.
Another good reason for our visit was that Piccolino’s was participating in Angels Take Out which benefits the Kitchen Angels. “Kitchen Angels prepares and delivers free, nutritious meals to Northern New Mexicans who are homebound and facing life challenging illnesses and conditions.”
On March 18, we went for lunch and had the penne arrabiatta. (2 for 28 dollars) which came with two slices of garlic bread.

Even though Piccolino’s website stated that the patio was open, Piccolino’s doesn’t have a patio. Just so you know.

I thought they had a brilliant idea to place the sauce(gravy) on the bottom of the take out container. This way the penne pasta stayed warm as did the sauce. Excellent!
The arrabiatta sauce was the hottest that I have ever tasted. I always think of arrabiatta as a spicy marinara sauce(gravy). You could see the red pepper flakes in the sauce and there were a lot of flakes. Wow! I thought I could just taste hot. It sure packed a hot punch in your mouth. The pasta was nicely done Al dente. Yes, it was very good.
So if you are looking for a hot tasting pasta dish, this is one is for you. Just be careful. I eat hot everyday and wow! was that arrabiatta hot!!!
I want to thank Piccolino’s for participating in Angel’s Take Out to help Kitchen Angels.

Piccolino’s is located at 2890 Agua Fria.
