Dinner for Two is one of my favorite restaurants in Santa Fe. We decided to go to dinner because we haven’t been there in a very long time. We didn’t need a special occasion to go. It is a white table cloth restaurant but not stuffy. I made an early reservation (5:30)on a Thursday and the place was packed. I really didn’t expect to see so many people there. The mask order was recently lifted in Santa Fe. I am still wearing a mask even though I have been fully vaccinated as were the rest of the people in my party.
At present, Dinner for Two only has inside seating. They are in the process of building a new patio. The name Dinner for Two is a misnomer. Yes, there are tables that have more than two seats. Dinner for Two has asked patrons to vacate their tables after 2 hours in order to handle the flow of reservations. Good to know.
Dinner for Two has updated their drink menu. Happy Hour 4 to 6:30 is now celebrated in the main dining room as well as the bar. We ordered from both menus.
A good friend introduced us to this delicious Empress gin that turns purple. It is a showy gin and the Unicorn Tears was a delicious drink. It was also on the happy hour menu for 8 dollars. Now that’s a bargain!

We started with the Happy Hour salad of beets and strawberries(7). It was a delicious salad with some goat cheese in the center. The beets tasted much better than the photograph. The strawberries were sweet, just right. The vinaigrette just added to the taste of the greens and was topped with toasted almonds. The portion size was right sized. A wonderful start.
We also had the Coconut Shrimp Appetizer(7). The shrimp was perfectly cooked. I haven’t had shrimp for awhile and this dish was delicious. The remoulade was a tasty spicy addition to this wonderful start.

I ordered the vegetarian red chile enchilada(22). I was kind of amazed at the price. I thought this was expensive for an enchilada. I was blown away by the sauce. That red chile sauce was truly amazing. You could put that sauce on anything and the entire dish would be spectacular. Please know that I am more of a green chile person than a red chile one. Wow! There was enough pepper and spice! I wasn’t expecting that much spice in a non-Mexican restaurant. What a pleasant surprise! The oyster mushroom was a wonderful base for this incredible sauce. The dish was topped with some queso fresco.

My better half had the Bay Scallops with fettuccine that had capers, garlic, tomatoes, and a white wine sauce. It,too, looked delicious. There was also some garlic bread on the side. How could you go wrong?

I didn’t save room for dessert. I ate my entire right size portion enchilada.
Dinner for Two is noted for its table side made Caesar Salad. For dessert, there is also a bananas foster flambeed table side. Very dramatic.
Our server was helpful and unobtrusive. I’m going back for that incredible red sauce and to check out that new patio. (whenever it is finished).
Dinner is served from 4-9 Wednesday and Sunday, Dinner is served on Thursday. Friday, and Saturday 4-10. Happy Hour is every day that the restaurant is open.
