As I slowly try more and more vegan foods, I have found that the old stereotypes that I hold near and dear to my heart are absolutely wrong. I read about Plantita in an email from the Santa Fe Reporter’s Morning Coffee about buying local. I want restaurants, bakeries, food trucks, breweries, and distilleries to be around in Santa Fe after the pandemic.
So I thought I would try Plantita. I ordered 6 green chile bagels(16). The website had a testimonial about how chewy the bagels were. I happen to love chewy bagels. I thought I would give this small new business a try.

Plantita is run out of a small commercial kitchen in the same strip mall as Alicia’s. It is a one man show. Thomas replies to the on-line orders swiftly and efficiently. He also answers questions. Yes, he actually gets back to you. He is amazing. His product is even more amazing.

I started with the 6 bagels. Thomas didn’t skimp on the green chile, which was tasty and delicious. I was impressed at how fresh and chewy these bagels were. I haven’t had bagels in years. Mostly because the bagels I have bought were kind of like chewing on rocks. How could you not like Plantita’s bagels.
For my next order, I bought a dozen bagels(30) and corn bread(20). Actually, I love corn bread more than bagels. But you have to make cornbread right. I have to taste the corn.

I only had vegan butter in the house. So this is a photo of that delicious bagel and vegan butter. I also wanted to have my bagels with cream cheese. Sprouts had a wonderful vegan cream cheese by Daiya. We got the chives and onion which you can see below.

Yum! This was so delicious! This was a perfect way to start the morning.
No, I am not a vegan but I certainly enjoy this vegan bakery. I am a repeat customer.
To order you need to go online. There is a 3 day wait until your order is processed. I suggested to Thomas that he place this pertinent info on the website before you get to the order page. I didn’t realize this until I ordered my first bag of bagels. I thought it would have been very helpful to know. You can order anytime online but pickup is usually Tuesday through Saturday.
The map below is how to find Alicia’s Tortilleria. Plantita Bakery is located in the same strip mall.
