The name Grassburger sounds like a carnivore’s delight and I am sure that it is. But I had one of the most delicious black bean burgers ever. Yes, it was an incredible burger. I had to check to make sure I didn’t get a hamburger. Good thing I could see the beans in my burger. Wow! I was very impressed. This burger consisted of black beans, quinoa, gluten free oats, onion, cilantro, parsley and garlic. It is served on a GMO-free potato bun that was toasted.

One of the reasons I went here was because I had read about Grassburger in the Albuquerque Journal. In that article, Grassburger takes great pride in that their beef is 100% USA Grass-Fed Beef, they serve their products on GMO-Free craft batch potato buns, it is gulten-free, vegan and allergy friendly. They do not use any corn0syrup or peanut oil.
Once again, you could order online through Toasttab to pickup your purchase. there was no extra charge for using toasttab. My order was processed and completed before I arrived there. I received a text. I texted when I arrived and my order was swiftly brought out to the car. My name was written on the bag and the server asked if he could go over it with us. I didn’t need to have that done.
I was hungry so we dived right into the bag of food. I ordered the sweet potato fries (3.75)with a cherry drink. (Upcharge of a dollar for the added drink). There was a good size portion of the fries. The cherry drink was soda fountain style. I read the menu and it was very flavorful. My order consisted of the black bean burger(6.50) on a potato bun with green chile( upcharge of 1). There were several pickles, a tomato slice, a good size slice of onion, a piece of lettuce on this beautiful burger. I had the chipotle mayo which is house made. It was very flavorful. It reminded me of McDonald’s secret sauce only much better. If you want to go the vegan route just substitute the BBQ sauce. I was given several packets of ketchup and mustard to complete my burger. The green chile was perfect! it was just hot enough to pack a punch but not too much. I love that!

We also had the grilled cheese sandwich(5) with the green chile (1). Or should I say a green chile sandwich with grilled cheese. Grassburger was very generous with the green chile. Yes!!!

There are 3 locations of Grassburger. The one I went to was on the east side. There is another Grassburger on the west side of Albuquerque and another one in Durango, CO. Grassburger is open daily from 11-9. They are closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter.
On the Grassburger website, the virtues of grass-fed beef are extolled. They also participate in a bio-fuel program to recycle the grease from their french fries. They use recycled paper products, biodegradable containers, and earth friendly utensils. So I felt good about going there.
Gift cards and merch are also available.
