In the 505 Central Food Hall in Albuquerque, I found Thicc Pizza Company. I had been looking for a good Detroit Pizza ever since Door 38 Pizza forgot to process my online order. Yea, that was not good. I waited around until they did make me a pizza but I haven’t been back since.

So I was looking for another good Detroit Style Pizza place since Backroad Pizza has yet to return to making them.

I knew we were going to Albuquerque, so I Googled Detroit Style Pizza. First, I Google then I do some more research. One of the pizza places on the Googled list didn’t have Detroit Style Pizza. Don’t ask me I have no idea why it was included. However, I did find Thicc Pizza Company. If you check out the website, you will see how serious these people are about their pizza. I like that. Also you do not have to be from Italy, New York, or Chicago to make good pizza. Heck, you do not even have to be Italian to make great pizza. Yes, you heard it here first. But better yet go to Thicc Pizza Company and see for yourself.
You can order online but as always on my first visit I ordered over the phone. What really impressed me was on the website and over the phone I was told that the edge of the crust will be burnt. I knew that but it was nice to hear it. Since I am not a vegan(Yet), I ordered the Thicc Rita(18). The Thicc Rita has a cheese blend with organic red sauce (some of the best I have had in a long time) with torn buratta(a cheese favorite of mine and one of the reasons I can’t stop eating cheese), extra virgin olive oil, and fresh shredded basil.

I’m getting hungry just describing this wonder of a pizza. It was so good. The buratta cheese and the fresh basil really elevated this pizza into something very special. Right now, I am planning a return trip. It was that delicious!

Just look at that burrata cheese with a sprinkle of fresh basil. I wanted you to see this beautiful sight before I demolished this pizza slice.

This is the box that this delicious pizza comes in. At Thicc Pizza Company, you can only order an entire pizza. The Box looks small but just like Chicago Pizza, Detroit pizza is packed full of goodness. I can only eat two slices at a time and that is when I am starving. There are also salads and soda pop on the menu here but I was only interested in the pizza.
The owners, Felicia Meyer and Seth Beckley also have another pizza place called Hawt Pizza Company located in the Sawmill Market. But Hawt doesn’t serve Detroit Style Pizza.
Hours Sunday-Wednesday 11am-8pm, Thursday-Saturday 11am-9pm.
Phone orders are taken at 505.450.2487 You can also order online at Thicc Pizza Company
Thicc Pizza Company is located at the corner of 5th and Central in Albuquerque.
