Several of my friends told me to check out Craft Donuts and Coffee. Since I am usually not around the Capital that early in the day I haven’t been. I think of donuts as just for breakfast. Well, I was there around noon and the donuts were just as wonderful for lunch.

We had the Root Beer Float and the Lemon Coconut because they were the specials of the month and they sounded delicious. As you can see below:

Each donut is freshly made so be prepared to spent a little time there while the donuts are made. If you are in a hurry, I would suggest that you order ahead of time. We had some time and were not in a rush. All we had to do was wait in the car. It was raining! A very good thing in New Mexico. The Craft Donut and Coffee person just yelled at our car.
I thought the donuts looked kind of small. I was used to Krispy Creme donut size (no longer in Santa Fe) which seemed to me to be a little bigger. But these donuts were hot and gooie(sp). They were absolutely delicious. The glaze was hot and was dripping from the donuts. There was enough of the root beer glaze that it pooled in the bottom of the paper container. At first, I couldn’t taste the root beer flavor I could only taste the vanilla drizzle, but I sure could taste the root beer in that sticky pool of goodness. Wow! It actually tasted like root beer. Be sure to grab some napkins because there is so much glaze that it tends to drip. The glaze along with the donut were delightful. I was worried about the grease content but the excess grease was carefully taken away.

The Lemon Coconut donut was equally delicious. It has a thin vanilla glaze with some shredded coconut and a lemon drizzle. Both donuts were equally yummy. This is the place to go to get hot custom donuts.
