Since we had such a good time at Tin Can Alley last time, we decided to go again. There are many more food options to choose from here. This time I choose SABBQ.

I truly love BBQ. But I have found a worthy replacement BBQ in jackfruit sub(11).

Right next to the bananas are jackfruit. The “meat” of the jackfruit is what I had for lunch on a hogie or large bun.

Ok, it tastes like pork or rather a mild version of what I remember pork tasting like. I was asked if I wanted BBQ sauce and of course I said Yes! The BBQ sauce is what makes the jackfruit, pork, chicken, ribs a BBQ dish. As you can see, they were generous with their sauce. I decided to also check out SA BBQ’s green chile Mac and Cheese along with an iced tea. Well, SA BBQ only had soft drinks no iced tea. It was a little early in the day for a beer so I settled on a Dr. Pepper. Adding the mac and cheese along with the Dr. Pepper cost 3.50 to my order.

This mac and cheese reminded me of a Cheez Wiz or Velveeta but there was some wonderful green chile in the mix to brighten it up.

There was so much bun and jackfruit that I wasn’t able to finish this delicious lunch. Next time I think I’m going to try the cole slaw with maybe a beer from Santa Fe Brewing. I was supposed to get cole slaw with my order but didn’t. I also didn’t know that SA BBQ offers 4 different kinds of BBQ sauce. That would have been nice to know. I would have chosen the Spicy Burqueno BBQ instead of the Burqueno BBQ. My BBQ Sauce needed more zip for me. It was kind of plain for me. When I got home, I put some Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ Sauce on my left-overs. Wow! That sauce was so much better. Ok, total disclaimer I met Sweet Baby Ray at a trade show in Chicago years ago. That is his nickname from playing basketball on the west side of Chicago. His real name is David and his brother Larry is the Chef that created Sweet Baby Ray’s. My mom even met them. We have both used their BBQ sauce ever since.
Back to the food. You can order directly from your table by using the scan function on your phone.

This was funny but every time I used the scan, it was for the Amore Neapolitan Pizzeria next door to SA BBQ. So I walked up to the counter and placed my order. They gave me a buzzer so I could pick up my order when it was ready. It was quick and convenient. During lunch hour, the place was packed. I was really glad we came early so we could scope out all of our food options at Tin Can Alley plus we also got a table.
