We wanted our last night in Amsterdam to be special so we went to the The Seafood Bar. The Seafood Bar isn’t a bar, it is a small restaurant chain in Amsterdam. Tina, from the Old Amsterdam Cheese Company, highly recommend it. We hadn’t had fish so we decided to try the Seafood Bar. Wow! I was overwhelmed by the selection of seafood you could get. We saw people with platters of food. It reminded me of Lisbon. I truly can’t eat that much. We both decided to have two appetizers or finger food as the menu called it. We started with some nice sparkling water. The bottled water was nice and cold. Then we each had a glass of white wine. A glass of Sauvignon Blanc for me while my better half had a glass of Sancerre. Both wines were from France. We received a small loaf of delicious bread with herbed butter.
I had the 3 crab cakes. These crab cakes were all crab, not filling. I think I was full but my second appetizer was shrimp in garlic butter. Good thing we were walking to the Van Gogh Museum. I didn’t need any dessert. My better half had the crostini with fresh sardines, which I was told were very mild. The second appetizer was the sashimi of the day which was tuna, halibut, and salmon with a wonderfully hot wasabi sauce.
