Santa Fe has a new food hall, Chomp. It has been around for a few months. I think Chomp had a soft opening around Valentine’s Day.

There are a few restaurant stalls and more to come. We tried out Nath’s Inspired Khmer Cuisine. We remembered that Chef Nath won the Souper Bowl (a huge fundraiser for the Food Depot of Santa Fe) a few years back. Chef Nath was also doing pop up dinners at Sweetwater Harvest Kitchen. We miss that. But we finally got to Chomp to check out the rest of Chef Nath’s delicious food.
We started out with the vegetarian spring rolls. These spring rolls were some of the prettiest I have ever seen. As you can see from the eye-popping photo. They were as good tasting as they looked. What a vibrant color! The spring rolls (2 qty for 7)were made of a “finely sliced red cabbage, shredded carrots, romaine lettuce, rice noodles, and fresh mint leaves, rolled in translucent rice paper wrap. The spring rolls are served with light coconut vinegar dipping sauce, topped with your choice of ground peanuts or almonds”. We chose the ground peanuts. These fabulous spring rolls were gluten free, vegan, and had organic ingredients.

For our entree we chose the Pad Thai(14) and the Turmeric Noodles(15). There is an up-charge for tofu(2), chicken(3), and shrimp 5 for 6 dollars. We had both dishes without any extra items.
The Pad Thai had “stir-fried thin rice noodles in tamarind-daikon sauce. Served with fresh nira, mung bean sprouts, shredded red cabbage, shredded carrots, ground peanuts or almond, and lime wedges”. Once again, we chose the ground peanuts.

While the Turmeric Noodles had “stir-fried sweet potato noodles in turmeric-ginger sauce with broccoli, spinach, red bell peppers, carrots, green onion, crimini mushrooms. This dish was garnished with sesame seeds”.

Both these incredible dishes were gluten-free, vegan, and made with organic food. Who knew? I am getting hungry just writing about them. The memory of this food really has stayed with me. I am scheming my way back there. I knew that Chef Nath’s soup was the best but little did I know what delicious food I had been missing. I will be back.
