I absolutely love the food at Fiesta Oaxaca! We haven’t been there in a long, long time. Well, it sure feels like it. Fiesta Oaxaca has some of the best vegan food in town. Yum! It’s ok if you aren’t into vegan food, you can enjoy your food from the regular menu as well. So all you meat eaters can breathe a sigh of relief. I can’t tell you anything about the regular menu but if it is anything like the vegan menu, you are in for a rare treat. The food is fabulous here! And for the record, I am not a vegan, yet. I am trying to eat less cheese. Still trying…
But anyway, since Fiesta Oaxaca has enclosed their patio, I am actually planning on eating outside the next time we visit this restaurant.
We had one of the Specialties of the house, Chile en Nogada(22). This is a roasted poblano pepper dipped in batter and lightly fried. The Chile is filled with plantains, tomatoes, garlic, onion, apple, pear, peach, raisins, and covered with a creamy almond and walnut sauce. Pomegranate seeds are sprinkled on top. This dish also comes with rice, some greens, and black beans. It is spectacular! I’m getting hungry just writing about it. The Chile en Nogada is kind of pricey but it is worth a splurge. Believe me.

If you choose to go the regular menu, the Chile en Nogada also has pork and beef.
Here is a close up of us cutting into this gorgeous chile:

We also had the Enchiladas Suizas(16) that had 3 corn tortillas filled with vegan meat made by Fiesta Oaxaca, with crema Mexican and seasonings. The enchiladas are topped with a creamy tomatillo salsa, and has rice and black beans. It also has some lettuce.

Both were wonderful! Even better Fiesta Oaxaca is within a very short walk from the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum. Another plus. I go to Fiesta Oaxaca at off hours so I have never seen it very busy.
The manager was telling me that Fiesta Oaxaca was getting several new and different tortillas, like a green, yellow and red tortillas that will soon be on their menu. This is one of my favorite restaurants in all of Santa Fe. It sure is! I don’t go there enough. But I think they are wonderful!
The new expanded patio looks delightful and private. It is not on a busy street so maybe the traffic noise is less than other restaurants on high traffic streets.
