I have wanted to go to Vegos forever. I wanted to go when Vegos was a food truck that had a scheduled stop at Bow and Arrow Brewing.

I want to tell you that it was definitely worth the wait. Vegos is a tiny restaurant in a strip mall. Not very impressive until you walk inside. It was like instant sunshine. You know how you feel when you have been away from home and finally get there. Yes, Vegos is a little hole in the wall but it feels like love to me. Vegos is only open from Wednesday through Saturday from 3-8. It took some time juggling to get to Albuquerque at the correct time. You can order online but for my first time, I wanted to talk to someone about my various choices.

I also ordered some elote(4.10). I love elote and usually don’t see it on the menu this time of year. Summer is when I generally see elote.

I had never had elote on the cob before. The fresh cilantro and sauce were incredible. I used my fingers to scrape the extra sauce out of the container. It was delicious! The corn was bright and very flavorful. If I didn’t know I was eating vegan food, you would have fooled me. It tasted better than butter and salt. What an improvement.

I also ordered some tamales(4 each). There are different tamales and the menu changes, so I asked. I was lucky that Vegos had jackfruit tamales served in a red sauce. Yum! Beware that the red sauce does pack quite a punch. Wonderful.

We also ordered the chile relleno(8) with an upcharge of beans and rice(3) which was also well worth it.

It looked delicious and wasn’t greasy. I didn’t taste it but my better half did. This dish received rave reviews. The beans and rice were delicious on their own. There is enough spices to really bring out their taste. The quantity was also generous, too.

I’m sorry that this restaurant isn’t in Santa Fe. I would be there all of the time. I love their food. From what I have read, this is a Mom and Pop place. I like that as well. This is some of the BEST Vegan food, that I have ever eaten. It has made me rethink my fondness of cheese. Sorry, I’m from the Midwest. It is cultural. But I am working on it. I thought that not eating pepperoni would be my down fall as a vegetarian. However that hasn’t happened. So who knows? I do know that I love this food. It is made with attention to detail but most importantly, love.

I had the black bean and red quinoa enchilada. Vegos has frozen jackfruit tamales with their incredible red sauce for the holidays. They are not doing a Christmas dinner just the tamales.
